In order to easily track British sheep semen, USDA has set out the following conditions for its use:
Great News! USDA is no longer requiring UK restricted semen to be stored or monitored by vets! Heritage Genetics is delighted by this decision because it simplifies the paperwork involved in getting permission to purchase and use restricted UK semen.
USDA requires that all flocks wishing to use UK semen must first be enrolled into the Scrapie Flock Certification Program. This is not the same thing as the mandatory sheep identification program. The SFCP requires the use of special ear tags, regular inspections by an authorized veterinarian, and good record keeping. For details, see the program website http://www.aphis.usda.gov/vs/nahps/scrapie/free-certi.html.
Note: Heritage Genetics must have a copy of your approved application to the program before we can sell you any UK semen.
Updated Producer Agreement! USDA requires that breeders sign a Producer Agreement (30K, ) before using UK semen. This agreement can be printed out here, then signed and returned to Heritage Genetics (Fax: 931.293.2524).
